Wings Host "Say Goodbye to Hollywood" Night During Marechek's Last Home Game

In honor of
Marechek’s retirement, the team is hosting “Say Goodbye to Hollywood” night
during the game Saturday against the Toronto Rock including a pre-game ceremony
honoring Hollywood. Highlights from the ceremony include:

Career tributes throughout the night from other
Philadelphia athletes including Kyle Korver of the 76ers, Rheal Cormier of the
Phillies and Neil Little of the Phantoms

Career tributes throughout the night from players in
the National Lacrosse League including members of the Philadelphia Wings team,
Jim Veltman of the Toronto Rock and all-time NLL leading scorer Gary Gait of the
Colorado Mammoth
·
A ten foot “exploding” replica of the world famous
Hollywood sign located in Los Angeles
·
Speakers during the ceremony will include Wings
players, the Wings ownership group, and NLL commissioner Jim Jennings

“Say
Goodbye to Hollywood” t-shirts will be given out to the first 6,000 fans

Marechek, nicknamed
“Hollywood” for his flashy style of indoor lacrosse, retires as the Wings
all-time points leader (751 points), all-time leading goal scorer (383),
all-time assist leader (368), all-time penalty minutes leader (178). The
four-time member of the Wings World Championship Teams finishes as the National
Lacrosse League’s third all-time leading points leader and fourth all-time in
goals and assists. He has been
chosen to play in all three NLL All-Star Games held during his career and has
been elected to eight NLL All-Pro Teams. Marechek was named 1994 Rookie of the
Year after being acquired by the Wings from the Buffalo Bandits prior to the
start of the season.
