Wings Defeat Titans In Pre-Season Action

The Wings defeated the New York Titans on Saturday by a
score of 12-7 in pre-season action at the Peddie School in Hightstown, NJ.
The game was the National Lacrosse League debut of the expansion New York
franchise.
The Titans scored the first goal 2:35 into the game, with Matt Taylor beating
Preece on a pass from Casey Powell. However, Philadelphia would take
control of the game shortly after, taking a 9-3 lead at halftime.
Former Wing Erik Miller and the Titans defense held the Wings scoreless in the
fouth quarter as they clawed back into the game, but the Wings were able to run
out the clock with a decisive 12-7 victory.
Jake Bergey, Jeff Ratcliffe, and Rob Van Beek each finished with two goals
for the Wings, while rookie Athan Iannucci (1G, 1A), Pat Walsh (1G, 1A) and Ian
Llord (3A) all looked impressive. Jay Preece (25 saves, 3GA) and Ken
Montour (10 saves, 4GA) split time in goal.
Matt Taylor (2G, 1A) and Casey Powell (1G, 1A) led the Titans offense,
Colin Achenbach, Mike McLellan, Brian Tower and Bobby Horsey each scored one
goal apiece. Top draft pick Brendan Mundorf added two assists.
Curtis Palidwor (24 saves, 11GA) and Erik Miller (13 saves, 2GA) split time in
goal.
