Three Wings Chosen As Starters for 2007 NLL All-Star Game
Wednesday, February 21, 2007

Wings’ defenseman Thomas Hajek, goaltender Matt Roik, and rookie Geoff  Snider were chosen as part of the starting lineup for the 2007 NLL East Division All-Star Team.  The 2007 NLL All-Star Game will be played at the Rose Garden in Portland, OR on Saturday, March 10th at 10 p.m. EST and will air nationally on Versus.

“It’s always an honor anytime you’re chosen for something like this by the fans,” said Hajek, who will be making his third straight All-Star appearance.  “I’m excited to have such great representation from the Wings in the starting lineup for this year’s All-Star Game.  The NLL All-Star Weekend just keeps growing every year, and I’m sure that Portland will continue that tradition.”

Hajek is in his third season as the Wings captain and has three assists and 42 ground balls in seven games this season.  He is the Wings’ all-time leader in penalty minutes with 183 and was a member of the 2004 NLL All-Rookie Team.  The 5’10”, 185-pound, St. Catharine’s, ON native was drafted by the Wings in the first round (ninth overall) of the 2003 NLL Entry Draft.

Roik currently has the lowest goals against average (9.57) in the NLL.  The sixth-year goaltender was acquired from the San Jose Stealth on August 18, 2005 in exchange for the Wings sixth overall pick in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft.  He has also seen playing time with the Anaheim Storm and New Jersey Storm.

Snider was the Wings first pick (third overall) in the 2006 NLL Entry Draft.  The 5’11”, 200-pound transition player has 16 points (8G, 8A) and leads the team in ground balls with 75.  The Calgary, AB native has won 72% of all face-offs he has taken this season (77 of 107).
