Wings Face Division Leading Knighthawks This Saturday
Wednesday, February 28, 2007
The Philadelphia Wings will look to re-bound from a disappointing loss to the
Buffalo Bandits last Saturday when they face the division-leading Rochester
Knighthawks this Saturday, March 3 at the Wachovia Center at 7:30 p.m.
General Manager and Head Coach Lindsay Sanderson was much happier with
the effort his club gave in last Saturday’ game than the previous game against
Buffalo, two weeks ago at home.
“I thought we were much better last week against Buffalo than we were the
week before,” said Sanderson. “It
was a fairly solid lacrosse game on our part. Unfortunately, things don’t get any
easier for us this week. If we have
the same work habits this week that we did last week against Buffalo, it will be
a great game against Rochester.”
The Wings will be facing a tough Rochester offense, anchored by the NLL’s
overall leading scorer, John Grant.
Rochester forward Scott Evans is fourth overall in league scoring. Both scorers should prove to be a
challenge for a young Wings defense.
“I’m very happy with how our defense is coming along,” said
Sanderson. “We’ve got a lot of
young guys so we have to be careful not to overplay anyone in this game. If we do, we’ll definitely see it on the
score sheet. This will be a great
test for them against Rochester this weekend.”
The Wings are also still waiting to hear the status of rookie Geoff
Snider for this weekend. Snider,
was assessed 37 minutes of penalties in conjunction with a fight that occurred
with just 1.4 seconds left in last Saturday’s game.
“Everything is still under review and we haven’t heard back from the
league yet,” said Sanderson. “We
probably won’t know Geoff’s status until tomorrow.”
