Dave Huntley – Head
Coach
Dave Huntley was named the sixth Head Coach in
Philadelphia Wings history on June 6, 2007 and will be entering his second
season on the bench for the team.
Huntley is a four-time coach of the Canadian National
Team and was most recently an assistant coach for the squad that won the gold
medial at the 2006 World Championships.
He has also served as an assistant coach for the Baltimore Bayhawks of
Major League Lacrosse (2003-2005) and helped guide the team to a championship in
2005. Huntley has been involved
with the NLL since its inception as The Eagle League in 1987. He was the first General Manager in
Philadelphia Wings history and has worked in a variety of capacities for the
Baltimore Thunder, Pittsburgh Crossefire, Washington Power and Colorado Mammoth
prior to rejoining the Wings.
As a player, Huntley was a three-time All-American at
Johns Hopkins University and was a member of their 1978 and ’79 NCAA
Championship Teams. The
Toronto, ON native was awarded the McLaughlin Award in 1979 as the National
Midfielder of the Year and is a member of John Hopkins All-Time Team.
Internationally, Huntley was a member of Canada’s 1978 World Championship team
and in 1999 was inducted into the Greater Baltimore Chapter of the National
Lacrosse Hall Of Fame.
Huntley resides in Towson, MD with his wife Nancy. The couple has two children, a daughter,
Michelle, and a son, Kevin, who was a first-round selection in this year’s NLL
entry draft.
