Chris Sanderson – Assistant Coach
Chris
Sanderson was named Assistant to the Head Coach on September 1, 2004. As
he enters his fourth season with the Wings, Sanderson will serve as the only
assistant to new Wings Head Coach David Huntley.
Sanderson is
currently the Director and Head Coach of True North Lacrosse Club. His
coaching resume also includes a stint as an Assistant Coach for Canada’s Under
19 National Team in 1998 and 1999. In addition to coaching, Sanderson is
the President of True North Lacrosse Inc., a lacrosse event and apparel
company. In March 2007, Chris opened the True North Lacrosse Company, a
specialty lacrosse shop in Pennington, NJ.
During his five-year
playing career as a goaltender in the National Lacrosse League, Sanderson was a
member of the Baltimore Thunder, the New Jersey Storm, and the Philadelphia
Wings. During his two seasons with the Wings, he played in twelve games,
and was a member of the 2001 NLL Championship team. He was also a member
of the University of Virginia’s 1997 ACC Championship squad and played in the
NCAA tournament in each of his four collegiate seasons.
Sanderson
was also the starting goaltender for the gold medal winning Canadian National
field lacrosse team at the World Championships in 2006 and was selected as the
All World goaltender. He also earned silver at the ’98 and ’02
championships and was also selected as the All World goalie at the 1998 games in
Baltimore.
Chris resides in Pennington, NJ with
his wife Brogann and daughters Stevenson and Clementine.
