Monday, March 17, 2008
The Wings have had a successful
first half of 2008 and they carried that momentum into the 2008 National
Lacrosse League All-Star Game in Edmonton. Transition player Geoff Snider
took home the All-Star MVP award in the 17-16 overtime thriller held on Sunday
evening. Snider scored six points (3G, 3A), picked up 28 loose balls, and
won 31 of 36 face-offs in the contest.
Athan Iannucci also had a stellar All-Star Game
scoring one goal along with five assists, including the assist on Rochester
Knighthawk Shawn Williams’ game winning overtime goal. Wings defender
Taylor Wray made his way onto the East Division score sheet as well, getting a
goal in the fourth quarter on his only shot of the game.
Overall, Wings players played a role in 11 of the
East Division’s 17 goals scored, picked up 32% of the team’s loose balls, and
took all but two of the team’s face-offs in the 2008 All-Star Game propelling
the east to victory.
