Rochester's Offensive Outburst Too Much to Overcome
Saturday, March 29, 2008

The Rochester Knighthawks scored their season high in goals on their way to a   20-12 victory over the Philadelphia Wings, who dropped their second road contest in a row.

“They are a very explosive team and we found that out tonight,” said Head Coach Dave Huntley. “We had trouble getting into a rhythm and against a team as talented as Rochester you need that constant pressure to be successful.”

Philadelphia and Rochester traded goals to start the first quarter with Philadelphia taking the lead at 3-2.  The final five minutes of the quarter belonged to the Knighthawks, who scored four consecutive goals to finish the first with a 6-2 lead.

John Grant and Sean Williams helped Rochester start the second quarter as they finished the first with each scoring in the first minute of play to extend the Knighthawks consecutive goals scored in the game to six which lead the Wings to send in Brandon Miller to replace starting goalie Rob Blasdell.  Rochester maintained their lead, finishing the half up 13-7.

The Wings were able to subdue the Rochester offense in the third quarter, only allowing one Knighthawk goal.  Athan Iannucci scored two of the Wings four goals in the quarter to cut the Rochester lead to three.

Rochester’s offense picked up again in the fourth quarter as the Knigthawks outscored the Wings by five goals bringing their total to the game to a season high of 20.

Leading the Wings offense were Geoff Snider (3G, 2A) and Jake Bergey (2G, 3A) each with five points, Athan Iannucci (3G, 1A), Kyle Sweeney (1G, 1A), Pat Heim (1G), AJ Shannon (1G), and Jason Crosbie (1G).  Goaltender Brandon Miller made 23 saves on the night.

Leading Rochester with eight points was John Grant (4G, 4A), Ken Millen (3G, 4A) and Scott Evans (2G, 5A) each with seven points, Steve Toll (1G, 5A), Shawn Evans (1G, 4A), Shawn Williams (3G, 1A), Mat McLeod (2G, 1A), Bill Greer (2G), and Chris Schiller (2G).  Goaltender Pat O’Toole had 36 saves on the night.
