Angels Spotlight - Lauren
Wednesday, May 28, 2008
Lauren is a teacher, as well as a volunteer coach of
a cheerleading team and a track team for middle school girls. The girls she
coaches range in age from 6th graders to 8th graders. She also volunteers for
the Dance of Dance, which is celebrated in February.
She began dancing at the age of three years old. She
has a deep passion for performing which keeps her motivated to keep dancing.
Lauren became interested in the Angles after she noticed that there were team
dancers at an event she attended and decided that it was something that she
would like to try. Currently, Lauren is in her third year as an
Angel.
Before each Angels performance, she makes sure to
jump five times before getting out onto the field, a habit she developed from
running track. Lauren also says a prayer before her performances. Her favorite
part of being an Angel is the moment before each game when she gets to stand on
the field as Star Spangled Banner is performed.
Lauren enjoys dancing to anything that is upbeat and
has a good rhythm. One song in particular she likes to dance to “Superhero” by
Jane’s Addiction, which is the theme song to the television show Entourage.
In the future Lauren would like to return to school
to earn a Master’s degree. She also wants to keep dancing in her life, as
it is something she truly loves.
Lauren’s Advice to Aspiring Dancers:
Always stay focused, and keep trying. Whatever
you may want to achieve can be achieved if you think positive and keep on
trucking at it!
