Thursday, August 28, 2008

The Philadelphia Wings have announced the signing of four players for 2009.  Goalie Brandon Miller, Forward AJ Shannon, and defenders Luke Pinder and Sean Turner have all signed one-year deals according to Wings General Manager Lindsay Sanderson.

Miller, entering his ninth season in the National Lacrosse League, played 295 minutes in net for the Wings in 2008.  He stopped 223 of 283 shots on goal for a 12.19 goals against average and 78.8% save percentage in his nine games withPhiladelphia.

Shannon played nine games with the Wings in 2008 and recorded 18 points (11G, 7A).  He also collected 35 loose balls and two penalty minutes.  Shannon will be entering his sixth NLL season in 2009.

The Wings acquired both Miller and Shannon in a three team trade on March 5, 2008.  In the deal forwards Dan Marohl and Keith Cromwell went to Minnesota; and goalie Matt Roik and defender Brad Self were sent to Chicago.

It was also announced that defenders Luke Pinder and Sean Turner have signed one-year contracts with the Wings.  Pinder, formerly of the Kitchener-Waterloo Braves of the Ontario Junior A League, was acquired from the Arizona Sting in this year’s dispersal draft.  Turner, who plays for the Wellington Aces of the Ontario Lacrosse Association Junior B League, was a free agent signing.
