Wings Release 2009 Schedule

The Philadelphia Wings begin their 2009 home schedule on Friday, January 23, against the expansion Boston Blazers at theWachovia Center at 8 p.m.  The team will being its 2009 campaign with three consecutive road contests, starting with the 2008 Champions Cup winning Buffalo Bandits on Saturday, January 3, in Buffalo.

 

The Wings will see seven different teams over their eight game home schedule.  Philadelphia will play three Friday night games, four Saturday night games, and one Sunday matinee home game at Wachovia Center this season.  The Wings home opponents include the first year Boston Blazers on Friday, January 23 at 8 p.m.; the defending champion Buffalo Bandits on Friday February 6 at 8 p.m.; the Boston Blazers who will make their second visit to Philadelphia on Friday, February 13 at 8 p.m.; the Chicago Shamrox on Saturday, February 21 at 7:30 p.m.; the Minnesota Swarm on Saturday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m.; the Colorado Mammoth on Saturday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m.; the New York Titans on Sunday, April 5 at 2:30 p.m.; and they will close their home schedule against divisional rivals the Toronto Rock on Saturday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m. 

 

“We are very excited about our 2009 schedule, especially at home. We start with three very challenging opponents on the road opening in Buffalo against the World Champion Bandits, Minnesota and Chicago before our home opener January 23 against the new Boston Blazers.  We play two teams from the West, the very tough San Jose Stealth on the road and one of the West’s premier team’s, the Colorado Mammoth at home. It will be a very challenging season but we can’t wait to get started,” said Wings Owner and President Russ Cline.

 

The Wings will look to continue to build on their success in 2008 behind the play of the National Lacrosse League’s single season goal scoring record holder and MVP Athan Iannucci along with league’s single season faceoff and loose ball record holder Geoff Snider.
