Wings Hand Minnesota Fifth Straight Loss

Iannucci scored three goals including the game winning tally and had two assists
to help the Wings hand Minnesota its fifth consecutive loss. Iannucci, who was the NLL MVP in 2008,
played his first full game of the season after off-season knee
surgery.
“Consistency is important and we kept it up the whole game
tonight on offense and defense.” said Head Coach Dave Huntley.
It was
Merrick Thomson who started the Wings off fast with three first quarter
goals. All-Star Geoff Snider added
a goal as well, to give the Wings a 4-2 lead at the end of the first
quarter.
Tonight’s game MVP Iannucci returned to the score sheet for the
first time since 2008 in the second quarter. He scored two of the Wings four goals in
the period and assisted on a Drew Westervelt goal which was the last score of
the half. The Wings went into the
locker room with an 8-4 lead.
Minnesota started mounting a comeback in the
third quarter and scored three of the quarters four total goals. The teams continued to trade goals in
the fourth quarter but it was a shorthanded goal by Iannucci which gave
Philadelphia a
three goal lead at 13-10.
Minnesota would add two late goals, but
Philadelphia held off the Swarm in the final
seconds to secure the 13-12 victory.
