Teat, Snider, and Giles Highlight MSL Playoff Finals

In MSL action this week, wings players John Harasym, Dan
Teat and the Brampton Excelsiors, took on fellow Wings teammate Athan Iannucci
and the St. Regis Indians in Game 4 of their playoff semi-final.Brampton won the game by a convincing 13-3
score. Teat had two goals and two
assists in the victor. The win gave
Brampton a 3-1
series lead going into Wednesday’s game five. The Excelsiors finished off St. Regis
with a 9-7 victory. Teat and
Harasym each had assists in the series clinching win.
In the second MSL semi-final, Mat Giles,
Geoff Snider and the Peterborough Lakers squared off against the Six Nations
Chiefs in game 5 of their series.
Peterborough won the game by a score of
10-2. Snider scored two goals
on the night and Giles recorded two assists for the Lakers. The win gave the Lakers the series win
4-1 setting an MSL finals matchup with Brampton.
Sunday marked the start of the MSL
finals. Brampton was able to dominate Peterborough 8-1 and take
the opening contest of this best of seven series. Teat recorded one assist in the
Excelsiors’ victory. Snider was the
only bright spot for the Lakers in the game, winning all but one face-off. Game 2 is scheduled for Tuesday, August
18 in Brampton.
Game 2 of the MSL finals took
place on Tuesday night, September 18 and Brampton was able to come away with its
second victory in a row pushing their series lead to 2-0 over
Peterborough. Unlike game 1, this was a very competitive matchup that was
tied as the final period of play began. Snider continued his domination in
the face-off circle winning 23 of 28 in addition to scoring a goal. Giles
had four points (1G 3A) in the Lakers losing effort. Teat
(1A) and Harasym (4 PIM) had quiet nights for Brampton.
In Major League Lacrosse summer
playoff news, the final four of the MLL will take place this weekend. Dave
Huntley's Toronto Nationals featuring Geoff Snider, Merrick Thomson, Jordan
Levine will take on Steve Panarelli, Tony McDevitt and the Long Island
Lizards. In the second semi-final Kyle Sweeney and the Boston Cannons will
take on Drew Westervelt, Matt Bocklet and the Denver Outlaws. All games
will be televised live on ESPN 2.
