Wings President and Owner Russ Cline Sounds Off on the New Season

Happy New Year! At first I
thought the season would never get here and now it is “full on.” I am really looking forward to seeing
you this weekend and getting a win.
The Wings got better in the off season adding; former Wings great John Tucker, as the new Offensive Coordinator; Paul Stewart, as the Director of Scouting; and new
Wings players Dan Teat, Jason Crosbie, Bill McGlone, Josh Sims, Kevin Huntley,
Mike Ward, Kyle Smedley and the return of John Christmas. We feel our players
can successfully compete against any team in the league.
I am not going to dissect last
Friday night’s game. Suffice it to say it was disappointing and not what I had
hoped for. The Titans are a very good team winning the Eastern Division last
year and competing in the championship game. They brought it to us and we have a
good understanding of what we need to do to get better. I have a lot of
confidence in the coaching staff and our players. Our upcoming opponent the
Boston Blazers also had a disappointing opening so Saturday night’s game should
be very exciting between two very proud teams.
This will be the 24th
season of Wings lacrosse. That’s quite an accomplishment for the organization
and Wings Fans. We have seen the best and worst of times in a league and sport
that was not given a chance to make it two years. Thanks to dedicated support
from staff, you, fans before you, current and former Wings….. We are still
loyal, loud and proud in the stands in what is now the fastest growing sport in
America! Now let’s make some noise
this Saturday night and get this season going in the right
direction.
