At Boston: Boston Leads 1-0
Last Meeting: February 13, 2009 Boston won 8-4 at Philadelphia (Wachovia Center)

About the Rival Blazers:

Since Boston joined the league last season, the Blazers have won all three match-ups against Philadelphia with former Wings player Tom Ryan coaching the team. Boston is led by 2009 league MVP Dan Dawson who led the league in assists last year with 74. Goalie Anthony Cosmo was second in the league with a goals against average of 10.14.

The Blazers will be playing the second half of a back-to-back game nights by coming to Philadelphia. They play in Toronto for already the second time this season on Friday, January 15, where they will face the Rock at the Air Canada Centre. Boston lost its first game of the season at home in the TD Garden Center 17-7 to Toronto.

Blazers coach Tom Ryan played 53 games for the Philadelphia Wings while compiling 39 goals and 143 assists in his 4 year stint with the team.

About the Hometown Wings:

The Wings start their home portion of the schedule against Boston with the newest bash brothers in professional sports, Geoff and Bobby Snider. The Snider’s will look to get the team on winning track as Philadelphia will be without Merrick Thomson who is out with an injury for second straight game. Thomson finished fifth in the league with 39 goals last season.

New offseason acquisition Dan Teat looks to build on a solid performance from the first game when he finished with 2 goals and 2 assists. Drew Westervelt led the team with 3 goals in a 13-8 loss to Orlando last week.

Coaches Corner:

“The thing with Dawson is that he is a rare combination athletically in that he is big, athletic, can create his own shot, and has great stick skills while being one of three premier passers in NLL” said Wings General Manager and Head Coach David Huntley.  “When he is on the floor you can’t ask just one person to defend him.”

“We always take it one game at a time. On Friday we will do our best to concentrate on doing the things to get the win in Toronto” says Boston Head Coach Tom Ryan. “We will do what is best with our goalie situation so we can do our best to win both games. We want to win both games this weekend, so we are going to do everything in our power to do that.”
