Wings Release General Manager and Head Coach Dave Huntley
Wednesday, June 2, 2010
Philadelphia Wings General Manager and
Head Coach Dave Huntley has been relieved of his duties with the team according
to team President and Owner, Russ Cline. Huntley was hired in 2008
as the Head Coach and was named the seventh General Manager in team history
prior to the 2010 season. This was Huntley’s second stint with the team;
he was the first General Manager in Wings history during the 1987-88
seasons. Assistants Chris Sanderson
and John Tucker have also been relieved of their coaching
duties. “The decision to change directions and
relieve Dave Huntley as General Manger and Head Coach of the Wings was a very
difficult one for the ownership group.” said Cline. “No one has worked harder or been more
loyal than Dave and his staff. He is a personal friend, a gentleman and a
brilliant lacrosse mind. He will continue to be a leader in this
sport.” Huntley, who coaches the Canadian
National Field Lacrosse Team and the Toronto Nationals of Major League Lacrosse,
had a 22-26 overall record during his three year tenure with the Wings.
The team qualified for the NLL playoffs once in his three seasons, losing to the
Buffalo Bandits in the first round of the 2008
campaign. |
