WINGS RE-SIGN MAX SEIBALD FOR 2011 AND 2012 SEASONS

The Philadelphia Wings today have re-signed Max Seibald for the 2011 and 2012 seasons according to General Manager Johnny Mouradian.

“Max is a rare athlete,” said Wings Head Coach John Tucker.  “He combines an extreme athleticism with the highest level of character and leadership that I’ve seen in quite some time.  He matches our new energy and strategy and is one of the players we are building the team around.”

Seibald won the 2010 World Championship in Manchester, England as a member of the US Men’s National Lacrosse Team and he was also named to the All World Tournament team.  Seibald spent the 2010 NLL season with the Philadelphia Wings after being selected 8th overall by the Boston Blazers in the 2009 National Lacrosse League draft.   The rookie, who was primarily utilized as a defensive transition player, recorded eleven points (4G, 7A) in 12 games overall.

Seibald, a graduate of Cornell University, holds the school’s all-time scoring record for a midfielder with 141 points (91G 50A).  In his collegiate career he was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year (2006); he was a four time All-Ivy Team selection (2006-09); and a two time First Team All-American (2008-09).  He was awarded the Tewaarton Trophy in 2009 as the nation’s top lacrosse player, the USILA Outstanding Player of the Year and the McLaughlin Award as the nation’s top midfielder.  Seibald was a Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award winner in the lacrosse division.   To be eligible for the Lowe’s award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.  On the field, he led Cornell to the 2009 NCAA National Championship final, which was the team’s first appearance in the title game since 1988.
