The academy is open to all boys ages 8 to 18 and is designed to focus on the skills required by every defenseman to excel in their position.

"I’m excited to bring the defensemen's academy to Philadelphia. The position is unique and requires a different approach than other positions. We hope to pass on instruction that will help defensemen take their game to another level. Our goal is make each camper a better individual and team defender," said Brodie Merrill.

Merrill is sponsored by Reebok.

“Brodie is one of the best players in the world and his resume speaks for itself. We are proud that he is bringing his leadership style and defensive prowess to teach what years of success have taught him – how to hone your skills to compete at the highest levels of lacrosse,” said Michael French, president and co-owner of the Wings.

Additionally, Merrill current serves as general manager of the Toronto Beaches Junior A Lacrosse team, and was one of the coaches of the U19 Team Canada that brought home the silver medal at the U19 FIL World Field Lacrosse Championships, in Turku, Finland.  He also serves as the head coach and director of the Hill Academy men’s lacrosse team which is highly regarded as one of the top lacrosse programs in North America.

This defense academy is open to boys ages 8-18 and will focus on developing lacrosse “IQ”, strengthening stick and footwork skills and more.
