11 Wings to Tryout for Team USA

With just two weeks left in the regular season, the Denver Outlaws have clinched the top spot for the MLL Championship weekend and are chasing history to become the first team in league history to have an undefeated season.  Sitting at 12-0, the Outlaws defeated the Chesapeake Bayhawks in a tightly contested game that saw Chesapeake jump out to an early lead only to fall short in the final quarter.  In the losing effort, Drew Westervelt scored a game high four goals for the Bayhawks.

The Hamilton Nationals secured their place in the Championship weekend, defeating the Boston Cannons 17-12 and distancing Boston from an opportunity to play in the post-season.  The Nationals got plenty of help from Wings players, as Jordan Hall has two goals and Kevin Crowley added one to remain in second place in the scoring race.  For the Cannons, Kevin Buchanan contributed two goals and an assist while Paul Rabil had a goal to maintain his lead in the scoring race.

USA lacrosse announced their list of 98 players they will be inviting to try out for the 2014 2014 FIL World Championship which will take place in Denver next year on Labor Day.  Among the 98 invitees, 11 American Wings players made the list, including rookies Chad Wiedmaier and Mike Manley, veterans Pat Heim, Kyle Sweeney, Ned Crotty, Drew Westervelt and Brendan Mundorf, and first year Wings players Paul Rabil, Kyle Hartzell and Kevin Buchanan.
