Wings Fall to Rush 16-12

Thursday was a tough night for Philly lacrosse fans as the Wings were beaten by a consistent Saskatchewan squad as the Rush took down the Wings,

The Rush jumped into the lead early in the first and never looked back, taking a 3 goal lead before Mitch Jones got the Wings on the board. However, the Rush added another goal before the end of the opening frame to take a 4-1 lead. In the second, the Rush added four more goals to the Wings two, taking an 8-3 lead into the halftime break.

The second half was more of the same story as the Rush scored four in the third quarter, while the Wings could only score three. In the fourth, the Wings bested the Rush with six goals, but another four goal quarter was enough to send the Rush home with a 16-12 win.

Mitch Jones (2G, 5A) and Holden Cattoni (3G, 4A) scored 7 points each, followed by Blaze Riorden who picked up 6 (1G, 5A) and Joe Resetarits had 4 (1G, 3A). Sam LeClair also contributed a hat trick. Goaltending wise Zach Higgins let in 11 goals on 36 shots, and Deacan Knott saw 5 go by him on 16 shots.

Every game is essentially a must-win now as the Wings sit at 5-9 and tied for twelfth in the standings with Colorado and Vancouver. The Wings are back in action for their final regular season home game this Saturday at 1PM.
